Shadow Friends is my first children’s book, and it deals with a deep friendship between a child with congenital Down syndrome and their friend, who has developed a Neuromuscular disease.
I wrote this in the hope of giving a fresh perspective regarding the general perception of the disabled in Korean society.
What is normal and what do people think is abnormal?
I believe that Attorney Woo Young-woo is weird, but not weird at the same time.
“Being the same or different is the same margin as the thickness of paper.”
Our society still understands too little about the tribulations of those in the marginalized, disabled community.
I hope this book will help many people to better understand children with disabilities.
